Dr. Donald Dew reviewed travel arrangements with everyone for the upcoming March 29, 30, and 31, 2006 NC-SOCRC meeting in Baltimore. Hotel accommodations have been made and the group will be staying at the Sheraton Baltimore North, Towson, Maryland.
There will be no reimbursements by GWU. Lunches will be provided at the Workforce and Technology Center and a light breakfast provided on meeting mornings. There should be only one evening that everyone will be on-their-own regarding dinner. Anyone driving will be responsible for their mileage and if traveling from the airport will be responsible for their shuttle expense. The Workforce and Technology Center will pick up at the hotel daily beginning Wednesday March 29 at 11:30 a.m., and Thursday and Friday mornings, 30th and 31st at 7:30 a.m. Thursday evening dinner will be provided at the Center.
Dick Luck and Dr. Burkett discussed feedback on conference topics as to the recent survey/query of all nine centers. The top three topics listed were security, vocational training, and physical plant. Three of the nine centers have not submitted their responses: Georgia, Maryland, and Arkansas. David Holmes will send David Parmer, Jean Jackson and Barbara Lewis the original survey/query questions. All responses and conference topics will be reviewed in the March meeting in Baltimore. Dr. Burkett will send a summary of the responses received from the six centers to all directors for review prior to the March 29, 30, and 31 meeting. Dick Luck will bring the responses from the remaining three centers to our meeting if not received in time to include in the summary from Dr. Burkett.
David Holmes did review the proposed meeting agenda for the Baltimore meeting. Dick Luck requested that time be allotted on the agenda to discuss CARF accreditation and possible alternatives to CARF. The agenda will be revised to provide time for this discussion Thursday afternoon March 30. Some centers have dropped their CARF certification. It was suggested that the Consortium consider developing a system of peer review provided by the Consortium. This was discussed a few years ago and will be discussed further in the upcoming meeting.
Barry Newill reported that Kentucky's Department of Homeland Security completed an analysis of the Carl D. Perkins Rehabilitation Center and provided recommendations which were very helpful. Barry will share a copy of that report with the Directors in our upcoming meeting.
Dick Luck and Rick Sizemore reported they would have to return to WWRC early Friday morning and would miss the Friday morning session. Don Rullman will also need to return early missing the Friday morning session.
