The National Consortium of State Operated Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centers, (The Consortium), was established in 1995. The Consortium Mission is as follows:

“To promote and assure quality rehabilitation services at America’s state operated, comprehensive rehabilitation centers that result in employment and independence for individuals with disabilities.”

The Consortium is comprised of the eight public comprehensive rehabilitation centers in America and the Regional Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program at George Washington University. The eight rehabilitation centers include:

Carl D. Perkins Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center, Kentucky
Hiram G. Andrews Rehabilitation Center, Pennsylvania
Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, Arkansas
Workforce and Technology Center, Maryland
Michigan Career and Technical Center
Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation, Georgia
Tennessee Rehabilitation Center
Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, Virginia
To act as an influential, dynamic, collaborative, and effective force, which promotes the value of state operated, comprehensive rehabilitation centers in America.

Members hope to achieve their goals by collaboration through mutual support, teamwork, and effective communication. The Consortium also promotes innovation through continuous learning, research, and shared best practices. The collective impact is evidenced in the fact that, on an annual basis, approximately 20,000 individuals with disabilities receive rehabilitation services at these eight nationally accredited rehabilitation centers.

The Consortium provides a variety of multidisciplinary services, including:

* Prevocational Services
* Rehabilitation Engineering
* Assistive Technology
* Vocational Assessment
* Rehabilitation Counseling
* Vocational Training

* Medical Services/Rehabilitation Medicine
* Residential Living
* Recreational Services
* Community Integration
* Tele-distance Rehabilitation Services
     (currently under development)

Broad-based initiatives accomplished by the Consortium include quarterly meetings at both center campuses and GWU campus locations, Consortium-sponsored training, regular meetings with the Commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration, a Center Staff Exchange Program, National Training Conferences, improvement of rehabilitation practices and contact with its European counterpart, the European Platform for Vocational Rehabilitation. The European Platform, (EPVR), is comprised of sixteen European rehabilitation centers. The EPVR and the Consortium have engaged in a formal alliance known as the Euro-American Platform on Rehabilitation.
